Verses Found in Dickens’ Pages XIX - Estates “…the lords of the State...” --Charles Dickens, Tale of Two Cities pass laws and pontificate on the state of those they pretend to represent each estate manipulates to stand above the other aristocrats and common masses the 4th Estate speculates about conditions they have no way to appreciate from the church desire to achieve majesty their charges expected to procreate and I I can only speculate at what the future will create and how little of it I appreciate * summer 2006 in America (those parts below the 48th parallel and north of the Rio Grande) will be lemonade concerts at the bandstand Sunday drives picnics in the park weddings on the lawn summer 2006 will be elections between two men who might be twins for an office, deck and private dining room (and the occasional woman who is considered safe) 60 hour weeks vacations shortened by a call from the boss or a client summer 2006 will be warmer days unpredictable gas prices body bags and decisions on a woman’s choice passed down by the best appointments a father and a son ever made summer 2006 in America will be forgotten when the bill comes due in the summer of 2007 * the lords of state regurgitate what they do now they should have done or will do in the future as we sip lemonade and vegetate (Message edited by garyb on March 07, 2006) A River Transformed The Dawg House Winter 2006 MindFire

We will always make lemonade, best use to made of lemmons. Dark, and foreboding, but still ranting against ruin is what keeps us in the game. I was reminded of this: Ashmolean acquires dickhead platter An Oxford museum has paid 240,000 pounds for a Renaissance plate which shows a male head made up entirely of phalluses. The Italian plate is thought to have been made by ceramicist Francesco Urbini in the 16th century. It shows a head made up of around 50 fleshy penises, wrapped round each other to form a dense, knotted whole. The head is framed by a garland carrying the inscription: "Ogni homo me guarda come fosse una testa de cazi" (Every man looks at me as if I were a dickhead). Which I remember reading a while ago. Now how can a renaissance artist reach out and touch a modern man? Well, everytime I think about the impulse behind this creation, I laugh out loud. Sue

Thanks for the kind words. A word in the last S was used incorrectly, forcing me to find a better choice. Smiles. Gary

I will not comment on the politics, Mr. B. I will just say that I loved your use of -ate words. They really kept the rhythm flowing in the first and last parts. I kept wondering what -ate word was going to come next!
